Santa Fe Ultra70

Description

The Santa Fe Ultra70 delivers 70 pints per day of whole-home dehumidification with the flexibility of optional ventilation. Ideal for homes up to 1,800 sq. ft., this compact ductable unit integrates seamlessly into HVAC systems and offers MERV-13 filtration and advanced control options for complete indoor air quality management.

The Santa Fe Ultra70 is the first compact, high-efficiency, whole house ventilating dehumidifier designed to fit in tight, low-clearance applications. The Santa Fe Ultra70 removes up to 70 pints per day, exceeds Department of Energy standards and provides effective air filtration (MERV-13). The Santa Fe Ultra70 is ideal for a small home, condo, or apartment applications. The Santa Fe Ultra70 has an innovative cabinet design that easily converts to either vertical or horizontal airflow discharge which allows for easier installation in tight spaces. Flexible airflow configurations allow the Santa Fe Ultra70 to be installed in locations where other dehumidifiers don’t fit due to duct issues and size constraints. Optional fresh outdoor air may be ducted to the unit via a “T” to the inlet duct. This provides fresh air to dilute pollutants and maintain a normal oxygen content in the air. The amount of fresh air ventilation can be regulated by a variety of dampers and controls.

Features

The Ultra70 Dehumidifier is designed to effectively remove up to 70 pints of moisture per day, making it ideal for homes up to 1,800 square feet. Whether you live in a smaller home, condominium, or apartment, this unit helps maintain a comfortable, dry environment. Its ducted design allows seamless integration with your existing HVAC system and ductwork, ensuring whole-home humidity control. Thanks to its versatile cabinet design, the unit can be installed with either vertical or horizontal airflow discharge, making it easier to fit into tight spaces. Now featuring R454B refrigerant, the Ultra70 is more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly than previous models. For flexible installation, this unit can be placed in a basement, crawl space, attic, closet, or mechanical room, providing powerful moisture control wherever it’s needed most.

The Ultra70 is the first compact, high-efficiency, whole-house ventilating dehumidifier designed specifically for low-clearance areas. Its smartly designed outer cabinet allows for flexible airflow discharge, giving you the option to set it up either vertically or horizontally to best suit your space.Measuring just 12 x 12 x 28 inches, this dehumidifier is built for easy installation in places where traditional models may not fit due to ducting challenges, space limitations, or accessibility concerns. Whether you're dealing with a cramped mechanical room or a tricky basement layout, the Ultra70 is designed to adapt.

Energy Efficiency You Can Count On.

Designed for maximum performance with minimal energy use, this dehumidifier consumes 15% less energy while removing more moisture than comparable models. Its advanced refrigeration coil, high-efficiency compressor, and optimized fan work together to deliver powerful dehumidification while keeping energy consumption low. With a maximum power draw of just 5.1 amps, it achieves an impressive moisture removal energy factor of 2.4 liters per kilowatt-hour, helping you save on energy costs without sacrificing effectiveness.

Flexible Installation to Suit Your Home

Whether used as a freestanding unit or integrated into your home's existing HVAC system, this dehumidifier adapts to your needs. The most common setup involves ducting the unit to an HVAC system using 8-inch ductwork, ensuring whole-home humidity control and improved air quality. Additional Upgrades and Accessories

Condensate Pump Available: This dehumidifier is designed to gravity drain collected condensate. However, if you prefer, you can attach an external condensate pump to customize a draining system that can drain condensate upward or across longer distances to a nearby drain. The Santa Fe Condensate Pump Kit Accessory is sold separately.

MERV 13 Air Filtration: The system comes standard with a MERV-13 air filter, which captures harmful allergens and particles and keeps the unit running at peak efficiency. This filter needs to be replaced every three months. You can replace your Santa Fe MERV 13 Filter here.

Remote Humidity Controller Options This dehumidifier must be controlled by a remote dehumidistat controller, which is sold separately. Therma-Stor offers several options. All the control units below are wired directly to the Ultra Series unit using 24-volt pigtail wiring.

  • DEH 3000 Digital Controller: The DEH 3000 is an all-digital controller that allows you to monitor and control humidity, manage fresh air ventilation, and activate air filtration for the unit from your living space. This control also allows you to run the fan continuously instead of only when the unit is in dehumidifying mode.
  • DEH3000R Digital Controller: The DEH 3000R is similar to the DEH 3000 but also features a remote sensor that can be placed up to 100 feet away from the controller. This sensor lets you control and monitor humidity conditions separately, keeping the wall-mounted controller out of sight.

Santa Fe SmartAire Power Damper:  The Santa Fe SmartAire Power Damper merges with the Santa Fe Ultra Series Whole-House Ventilating Dehumidifier line to allow ventilation control via the dehumidifier, so you don’t have to worry about adding an external ventilation controller. Proper installation of this power damper ensures compliance with ASHRAE 62.2, as your Santa Fe whole-house ventilating dehumidifier provides filtered, fresh outdoor air into your home.

Superior Filtration

Equipped with a MERV-13 filter, Santa Fe has the best filtration of any dehumidifier on the market. What does this mean? It means our dehumidifiers remove 98% of dust, compared to the MERV-8 filter, which only has 90% dust removal. FAQs

What is the most common problem in basements?

Moisture is the most common problem in basements. Excess moisture leads to mold growth, and mold growth leads to property damage, bad indoor air quality, increased odors from off-gassing of mold spores, and damage to items stored in the basement.

Why do I need to control moisture in my crawl space?

Excess moisture, introduced by way of unsealed, vented crawl spaces, contributes to wood rot, mold growth and increased pest activity, including infestation and colonization. Moisture in crawl spaces often migrates to the upper levels of the home through a “stack effect.”

Why should I buy a Santa Fe dehumidifier?

Energy Efficient. Large capacity. Commercial quality. Designed to show moisture who’s boss. Reliability. Superior Filtration (MERV-13). These are the reason you can’t go wrong with buying a Santa Fe dehumidifier. Oh, and an industry-leading warranty.

Where do musty odors in my home come from?

Musty odors are typically a result of high humidity levels in the crawl space and basement. This polluted air below the house will eventually move to the rest of the house, carrying musty odors and other contaminates. Specifically, musty odors in your home come from the off-gassing of mold spores when they feed on organic materials. Solve the moisture problem and you will solve your mold problem.

How does wood rot occur in a home?

Wood rot in floor joists and support piers occurs when the moisture content is above the fiber saturation point, which is about 27-28% wood moisture content.

What pests cause damage to a home?

The top 8 common pests that can cause damage to a home are: termites, carpenter ants, powder post beetles (aka powder beetles), carpet beetles, cigarette beetles, grain weevils, house mice, and Norway rats.

Does poor air quality affect your health?

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, health problems associated with poor indoor air quality include eye irritation, allergies, headaches and respiratory problems such as asthma. These problems can be directly related to the presence of mold and dust mite infestation in the home. One of the recognized solutions to addressing these health issues is effective moisture control.

Can I have high humidity in my home?

High humidity can greatly affect your comfort by causing you to feel either hot and sticky or cold and clammy, especially in your basement, while also contributing to smelly, musty odors in the home. Musty odors come from off-gassing of mold spores when they feed on organic materials. Solve the moisture problem and you will move your mold problem.

Are Santa Fe dehumidifiers energy efficient?

All Santa Fe dehumidifiers exceed Department of Energy standards. When you see our logos, you know that you are purchasing a dehumidifier with superior energy efficiency that will help you save money. Our dehumidifiers are built to remove more moisture using the same amount of energy as conventional units.

Where does moisture in a home come from?

There are three main sources of moisture in your home: the first source is leaks, the second is diffusion through materials, and the third is internally generated moisture.

What is stack effect?

Stack effect is the movement of warm, dry air rising and escaping through the upper levels of the home and cooler, wet air finding its way into the lower levels in order for the home to equalize.

What factors should be considered when choosing the capacity of a dehumidifier?

The number one factor to consider when choosing how many pints of water removal you will need for your space is infiltration from the ground below and the air outside – experts say about 95% of the moisture entering a building enters through air infiltration. It’s also important to make sure your basement or crawl space is sealed, as this also is factored in the total size of a space.

Why is air movement important?

Air movement breaks down boundary layers at surfaces, promotes air mixing, reduces stagnant micro-environments and helps convert heat energy to the structural components you want to protect.

What does the Santa Fe six-year warranty cover?

Therma-Stor, LLC (“Therma-Stor”) warrants as follows: (i) Santa Fe dehumidifiers (“Product”) will be free of material defects in workmanship or materials for a period of 5 years (“Five-Year Warranty”) following the date of initial purchase of such Product by an original customer purchasing from Therma-Stor or an authorized reseller (“Customer”); and (ii) the Product’s components will be free of material defects in workmanship or materials for a period of six (6) years following the date of initial purchase of such Product by a Customer.

Why ventilate?

The purpose of ventilating a home is to maintain a healthy and safe living environment.

The reason for the buildup of indoor pollution in today’s homes is a direct result of our efforts to conserve energy and save money. As the techniques and materials used to insulate and seal our homes has improved, the result is stale and polluted air trapped inside.

Common sources of indoor airborne contaminants include:

  • Chemicals used in the construction or renovation of buildings
  • Appliances that burn gas
  • Wood-burning stoves and fireplaces
  • Pets
  • Off-gassing of furniture, cabinets, flooring, and countertops
  • Infiltration of ozone, pollen, and molds from the outside
  • People
  • Cleaning supplies
